I was requested to write about liquid foundations and how you should go about applying it.

For a very long time I would use Cover Girl foundations. Because of my acne, it was hard for me to make my foundation look flawless. Not to mention that I did not have the knowledge that I do now about makeup. I will list a few liquid foundations that I do like and ones I do not. I have not tried a bunch of foundations, because I recently(past year and a half) got into makeup and learned so much more about how to apply it. I also learned more about my skin type and skin tone and that is really important to know before you go and buy a foundation.

These are drugstore and high end foundations I have tried:

Drug Store Liquid Foundations:

I use to use the simple cover girl foundation called Cover girl Clean foundation, I believe. It was alright. I have found they are hard to blend, but they seemed to be okay. I have not used them in a long time, so I cannot do a good review on them. I do remember it dried easily so you had to blend quickly. $6-$7 at any drugstore.

Another liquid foundation I used was the Maybelline Dream Mousse foundation. I actually thought this foundation was nice. It did feel like a mousse, and was easier to blend. It felt a little oily, but overall, I think this is a good foundation to try because of the price. I will have to say that this is my favorite brand when it comes to drugstore so far. I love the powder you can get. $8-$9 at any drugstore.

Recently I have been trying out the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation(I have mentioned this one in another post). I will have to say that it gives nice covered, it looks pretty on the skin( a little too shiny), and smells nice. However, if feels too oily for my taste and it feels gross on my skin. It also is way too runny!! I do not think I will repurchase it. $10-$12 at any drugstore.

High End Liquid Foundation:

Lets first start with the very first one I have tried.

Makeup Forever HD Liquid Fondation- I LOVE this foundation. I have mentioned this one before, but it is by far my most recommended one. It feels like you have nothing on your skin, it has nice coverage(about med), and it leaves your skin soft and touchable. It feels like skin instead of being too oily or heavy. It is perfect for me! $40 at Sephora or Makeup Forever website.

The second high end foundation I bought was MAC Select SP 15 Foundation- This foundation at the start was good. It covered up all my redness and gave a flawless look. However, it was a bit heavy, feeling like my face had tons of makeup on. I got use to that, but it wasn't fun. Then after many months I started to feel like it was breaking me out. I stopped using it and my face started to clear up a bit. So, I think it did break me out after all. I still have it, but I am scared to use it again haha. I may try it again. Overall, it is a very good foundation! $23-$26 at any MAC counter or online store.

Lastly, I have tried two samples(which I still have after a month and a half by the way), of Nars Sheer Matte and Nars Sheer Glow. Besides the Makeup forever foundation, these are one of my favorites. I love the finsh it gives and how my face feels smooth. I prefer the sheer matte over the glow, both are great, but the matte finish just works better with my skin. They look very similar in finish, so if you like one, you will like the other. These foundations covers everything, blends easily, and you do not need a whole lot of product to get the job done. I would highly recomend these foundations despite the price, which I do not like. $42 at any Sephora or Nars online store.

Okay so the question is... are the high end foundations, which are very pricey, worth the price?

I do not have much money and I try spend wisely, but I believe they sure are worth the price. Why?
1. They last a very long time!
2. They are easier to use.
3. You do not have to worry about what your foundation color is because you can go to a counter to find your shade.
4. They are high quality and you do not have to worry about using more product just to have good coverage.
5. You can actually take back your makeup within a certain amount of days if you need to switch.

Any down falls? A couple.

1. They do cost a lot more.
2. Sometimes you have to try a few of them to find the right foundation, which can be very pricey.

I would highly recommend trying the above foundations that I love. Save a little to get the high end if you want or if some drugstore ones work for you, that is awesome! If you have any drugstore recommendations, comment below. I would love to know!

Tips on how to apply liquid foundation:

Using your fingers a good idea? Well...not really. Why?
1. Your natural oils on your skin can make your face greasy.
2. It can take more product to give full coverage.
3. It creates more of a pasty look instead of a flawless look.
4. I kinda just moves the foundation around instead of blending it into your skin. It just floats on top of your skin.

What should you use?

Makeup brushes! Why?
1. It blends and buffs in the foundation and creates a flawless look with the proper technique.
2. It takes less product to use on your entire face.
3. You will not get oil on your skin because your fingers are not touching your face, which can also prevent acne.
4. It depends on what brush you use, but you can create different finishes.

Another thing you can use is a makeup sponge! Why?
1. Blends in the skin real well.
2. Does not use oily fingers.
3. It may take a little longer to use, but gives the skin a perfect look!
4. Cheap!

Brushes I would recommend: Sigma brushes. Get them here.
You can buy sponges at Walmart. I do not think they are as effective, but you if you need cheap and sanitary, then that is an option!

When I finally started to use brushes on my face, even my husband noticed a difference with how my foundation looked. That says a lot haha!
I will make another post on steps to apply foundation and how to use the brush.

I hope you liked this post. Any recommendations or comments are welcomed! I love feedback. :)
